Questions about Refilling
What is refilling?
New cartridges for ink-jet printers are costly, often exceeding the original
cost of the printer itself. Instead of throwing away empty cartridges,
have them refilled. MT Cartridge Refilling will professionally refill each
cartridge with high-quality, compatible ink.
More than 780 million ink-jet cartridges are thrown away each year, and take
hundreds of years to decompose. Refilling helps diminish the amount of
waste in our landfills. Plus it saves you money!
How much money will I save by refilling?
On average, our customers save up to 60%, when compared to
purchasing new cartridges. Our customers save a significant amount
of money by refilling until the cartridge needs to be replaced. Refilling
does not mean a new cartridge will never need to be purchased. When a new
cartridge is needed, MT Cartridge Refilling offers a variety of new or
compatible cartridges.
Will refilling void my printer warranty?
Printer companies would like people to believe refilling will void a printer
warranty. However, it is not true. NO company, by law in the U.S.,
can sell a product and then require the customer to purchase more products from
the same company to ensure the warranty remains valid. This is a practice
referred to as "tied selling", and is covered under the Magnusson Warren Act.
In order to legally make this claim, a company would have to supply the
necessary consumables at no charge during the life of the warranty (and printer
companies are not about to do this.)
In most cases, the warranty actually states that refilling cartridges or
using after market products is not recommended, not that it will void the
warranty. The printer companies try to influence consumers to buy
their expensive "name brand" (OEM) cartridges.
How does the quality of a refilled cartridge compare
to the quality of an original cartridge?
The printer manufacturers have created products capable of ultra-high
quality, and for that we applaud them. However, we guarantee our quality
is as good as the original cartridge ink -- for a fraction of the cost.
MT Cartridge Refilling employs over 100 formulations of ink, as each ink is
cartridge-specific. A quality 'universal' or 'one-for-all' ink does not
exist. Ink properties such as viscosity, particle size, pigment, and
opaqueness can vary greatly from cartridge to cartridge. Refilling
cartridges with MT Cartridge helps to keep the cost of printing low, without
sacrificing quality.
How long will the refilled cartridge last?
Though the capacity of each cartridge type differs, every cartridge is
refilled to it's maximum capacity. It is difficult to forecast the number
of pages a cartridge will print, as many factors cause variation in a cartridge's
longevity. These include: printing graphics versus text, using
single versus double-spaced text, the page margins employed, and the print
quality setting on the printer.
Each cartridge we refill contains at least the same quantity of ink (in many
cases more), as a new (OEM) or re-manufactured ink-jet cartridge.
How many times can I refill?
There are several factors to consider when determining how many refills a
cartridge can receive. With proper care, most cartridges can be refilled
several times. Eventually, the the cartridge will need to be replaced with
a new (OEM) ink-jet cartridge.
Are the remanufactured cartridges as good as the
original?
Simply...yes. We offer our 100% Satisfaction
Guarantee. There is no risk.
Why can't some cartridges be refilled?
There are many reasons a cartridge is not able to be successfully filled.
These include:
- Extreme temperature exposure
- Print head dries out or clogs
- Electronics failure
- Abuse of the cartridge such as squeezing, dropping or peeling off the
electronics strip
- Color contamination
